Project Long lasting Values
Through the project "Long lasting Values" I want to shine a spotlight on some of the things I think we humans should take better care of and protect - locally, nationally and globally. I want to make a difference for environmental protection, recycling, handicrafts, crafts and the people behind them. In addition, I am particularly concerned with biodiversity and our endangered animal species - both domestic and wild animals.
Part of the project "Long lasting Values" is about showcasing some of our beautiful livestock breeds that are worthy of preservation, such as the Telemark cow, the coastal goat and the Døla horse. They are an important part of our cultural history and genetic diversity and are unfortunately on the red list of endangered animal species. In my paintings, I integrate these animals with ornaments and patterns inspired by traditional Norwegian silver, traditional embroidery, rose painting, brocade fabrics, hooks and wrought iron - this is because handwork and craftsmanship are also important to preserve. It is about values that can last a lifetime and can be passed down from generation to generation.
